Last Friday, we delivered a very popular tree training session on how to identify and record ancient, veteran and notable trees as part of the Woodland Trust Ancient Tree Inventory project, in assistance with Horsham Green Spaces.

With 20 attendees, the session covered how to recognise key features of ancient trees, such as trunk size, hollowing, and crown shape, alongside practical guidance on measuring and recording details like species, location, and condition. Participants also learned how to upload their findings to the national database, contributing to the recognition and potential protection of these valuable natural assets.

We then headed outdoors for a hands-on practical session, where attendees had the opportunity to measure trees and apply what they had learned in a real-world setting.

Due to strong interest and demand, an additional session will be held next Friday, please click here for the details. Anyone who would like to take part is very welcome to join, please contact us beforehand, here.
