Shipley & Southwater Joint Neighbourhood Plan - FAQ
- 6 days ago
- 1 min read
We've published a new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document to help residents better understand the proposed Shipley & Southwater Joint Neighbourhood Plan and the current consultation being run by Horsham District Council.

The FAQ explains what is being considered at this stage, what a joint neighbourhood plan can and cannot do, and how residents can get involved throughout the process.
One of the important messages is that the current consultation is about the proposed neighbourhood plan area designation. It does not approve development sites, housing numbers or planning applications.
The document also explains what a neighbourhood plan is, addresses common questions about housing, local representation, governance arrangements, the protection of rural character, and how both Shipley and Southwater would continue to maintain their distinct identities within any future joint planning framework.
We encourage all residents to read the FAQ and familiarise themselves with the facts before submitting comments on the current consultation.
Horsham's Consultation closes: 5.00pm on 7 August 2026
You can still access it here.
Your views matter, and there will be multiple opportunities for residents in both parishes to help shape the neighbourhood plan, throughout the process.
