Strong Resident Support for Worthing Road Speed Limit Reduction

Southwater Parish Council has now submitted a Traffic Regulation Order request (TRO) to West Sussex County Council, reference WSCC-747455903, seeking to reduce the existing 40mph speed limit at both the north and south ends of Worthing Road.

A Parish Council survey, conducted over a 21-day period and closing on 26 August 2025, received over 400 responses. The Worthing Road Speed Limit Survey results show a clear majority of residents support the proposed reduction.

The purpose of the request is to enhance safety for everyone in line with increased housing and traffic volumes along Worthing Road. The proposal is supported by County Councillor Nigel Jupp, Southwater Parish Council, and all three local schools. Please click here to access the summary of the survey results.
