Southwater Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

Southwater Leisure Centre, Glebe Field and Southwater Sports Club

Southwater Parish Council and Partners are looking forward to the planned activities to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee on Monday 4th June 2012.
The day will begin at 1pm on the Southwater Leisure Centre Sports field on Pevensey Road with Live entertainment and demonstrations from local groups and community organisations on the main stage. There will be a Tug o’ War competition running throughout the day in the main arena as well as a dedicated ‘Kids Zone’ for arts and crafts for children of all ages. There will be ‘old style’ races such as the egg and spoon race, sack race and the three legged race to name a few.
There will be food and refreshments available to purchase with the addition of a fully licensed beer tent provided and managed by Southwater Sports Club.
There will be areas available for stall holders and so if you are interested in booking a stall at this event then please contact Rachael at the Parish Council office for further information.
From 6pm there will be fun and games at Southwater Sports Club with ‘beat the goalie’ competitions and old fashioned skittles being one of the main attractions. On the Glebe field there is a planned Fireworks display and the official lighting of the Southwater Beacon. Full timings of this will be confirmed in due course.
To end the event there will be live entertainment at the Southwater Sports Club which will be open to all members and non members for the night.

Amended plans for houses to the west of Worthing Rd Southwater.
Amended plans have been received for this application, which will be discussed by the Parish Council at its Planning Committee meeting on Thursday, 14th June, which will take place in the Council Chamber at Beeson House, commencing at 7.30pm. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
The application now refers to “up to 500 houses”, as 21 homes have been removed from an area to the south-west of Great House Farmhouse, as per the recommendation from English Heritage.
Plans are available to view in the Parish Office, in Beeson House.
Action for Blind People Information Bus in Lintot Square
An Information Bus will be parked in Lintot Square, outside Beeson House, on Wednesday, 23rd May from 10am to 12pm. Experts will be on hand to advise anyone who needs support with sight loss, with information on the latest aids and equipment available. Call 01293 657090 for further information.
