Southwater Youth Project

Southwater Youth Project exists to serve all the children and young people of Southwater. The main aim is to help meet their physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social needs through the provision of a wide range of activities, engaging with children and young people in local schools and in various village locations through the provision of a professional, embedded youth worker. Our objectives are to provide and signpost young people to a broad range of affordable and accessible educational, social, community & leisure based activities and opportunities, and help them to develop & mature physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually as individuals and as members of society. SYP runs various clubs and activities in the village which are fully inclusive and open to all, including a Tuesday After School Club and a Friday Night Youth Club at the Lardner Hall, Bronze & Silver DofE groups and also delivers a range of detached work, one to one mentoring and support, as well as outdoor activities and trips, and opportunities to explore issues of faith are also offered to those interested, in conjunction with local churches.

SYP’s salaried youth worker is funded by Connect Southwater Community Church, Southwater Parish Council, & Horsham with Slinfold URC, and we are currently awaiting confirmation of charitable status. Our trustees are always open to wider community support and involvement, so if you are interested in volunteering or offering funding and/or a particularly area of expertise to the young people and/or to the Trustee Board, please do get in touch!
