The planning application in relation to Easteds Barn is available to view on the District Council website, by following this link:
http://publicaccess.horsham.gov.uk/publicaccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_detailview.aspx?caseno=KZBHA0IJ00K00
The Barn is owned by the Parish Council, as is the building currently occupied by the Montessori School in Church Lane. There is no question of selling the Barn, as any potential occupation of the premises would be via a lease. The Church Lane premises would then be empty for use by another organisation, possibly the Sea Scouts.
The Church Lane building is currently leased to the Parish Council from the Fletcher Trust until 2016. It is in turn subleased (only with agreement from Fletcher Trust) to the Montessori. This sublease will expire late next year. This proposal will allow the Parish Council to let the underused building at Easteds Barn to the Montessori. Thus the Parish can ensure that they retain income which we would otherwise loose at the end of the current lease of Church Lane, thereby reducing the burden on the local tax payer.
Any alterations made to the Barn would be by the leaseholder, and not the Parish Council.
All of the above has been debated at Parish Council meetings, to which members of the public are welcome to attend.
The planning application DC/10/0468 will be on the agenda for a meeting next week, on Wednesday, 31st March at Beeson House, commencing at 7.30pm. However, the Parish Council will be making no comment on the application, as it is prohibited from doing so, as it has an interest in the building. Any member of the public can speak at Council meetings – there is an agenda item, “Public Participation”, specifically for this purpose.
