Economy Group

In the context of the Southwater Action Team by economy we mean the local businesses, traders, retailers and what people do to sustain enterprise in the Parish.  The mission of this focus group is to deliver the items in the Action Plan.  These are contained in the Plan Results published in May 2009.

If you would like to know more about the work of this Group please contact the Communinty Partnership secretary Mrs Juliet Tydd in the first instance.  Email juliet_tydd@hotmail.com

THE market at Southwater is set to restart regularly from Easter onwards in Lintot Square from 4pm until 9pm every week.  This is a joint initiative between Horsham District Council, Southwater Parish Council and the Southwater Action Team.  The business supported this initiative to provide a place for residents in the village to do some shopping before the weekend, at a time after work and school which is convenient to them.  Items available from the stalls will include bread, fruit and vegetables, plants, cakes and tools, but residents can make suggestions on what stalls they’d like to see by talking to Tanya or Bob Price who run the fruit and vegetable stall because the couple book the stallholders.

Mark Carey, Chair of the Business Group for the Southwater Action Group, has helped to arrange for the market to be restarted. He said: “This is a timely shift to meet the needs of local residents and attract people to Lintot Square. People want a market and were disappointed when it stopped. Spring is a good time to kick start this new market, but residents will need to support this. We look forward to seeing you all down there.”

Southwater included in Super fast Broadband Highway.  The attached news item explans new fibre-optic cable plans across Sussex.
