ARCHERY COMES TO SOUTHWATER
Archery has arrived at Southwater Leisure Centre. Three very successful two hour trial sessions have now been held on Sunday mornings (10am to Noon) in the Sports Hall and the response from the public has been fantastic. Horsham District Council Leisure Link supply the equipment and targets. Nick Scott, qualified Archery Coach, runs the sessions.
Steve Brew, the Centre Manager, said “ We decided to try introducing Archery as a result of the interest generated through the success of the British team in the Olympics. We knew it was a popular sport but even we are surprised at how popular it has been. The great thing about Archery is that virtually the whole family can take part together. Our Sunday sessions have seen Mums and sons, Fathers and daughters all shooting together. It is great to see.”
As a result of the demand for the sport extra sessions are being organised at the Centre. If you are interested in taking part please call on 01403 733208 or e mail steve@southwater.net. Sessions are very reasonable at £10 for 2 hours and all equipment is supplied.
The next availible sessions are : MARCH 17th and APRIL 14th
Southwater Diamond Jubilee Coins
Southwater Parish Council recently issued commemorative Jubilee Coins to all children attending the local Southwater schools.
Our supplier kindly provided us with approximately 100 additional coins, and the Council have now agreed that it is now possible to issue these free of charge, on a first come first served basis to parishioners of Southwater, who may wish to have a coin for their young children. This will be limited to two younger siblings per household.
